Sara’s passion for music and impressive 20-year career in show business saw her go from strength to strength. From her 80s radio show, through Brit Pop to Big Beat and on to today’s melting pot of Pop, R&B, Hip Hop and Dance – there’s something for everyone. From her humble beginnings in Bolton, Manchester, Sara first made a name for herself working as an international supermodel/barmaid before making her mark on UK TV screens during the notorious cultural movement of the Brit Pop days.
Sara’s early career in London saw her present various TV shows including Channel 4’s The Girlie Show, MTV Hot, Channel 5’s Exclusive, and Channel 4 music programmes, Album Chart Show and Born Sloppy. She went on to present BBC Radio One’s Breakfast Show, taking the show to various festivals across the world including the Balearics for the notorious Radio One’s Ibiza Weekend. In 2013, Sara made the move from BBC Radio One (school) to BBC Radio 2 (sixth form) where she presented her own Friday night show, Sounds of the 80s, featuring the popular music often reflected in many of her DJ sets. There was a red button special, once a month, reaching millions of viewers with star interviews and a plethora of amazing 80s pop videos to accompany the music. Sara was also the official Radio 2 Breakfast Show cover DJ for Chris Evans, entertaining over 9.5 million listeners on Europe’s biggest breakfast show. In 2019, Sara took over from Simon Mayo and Jo Whiley for the Radio 2 drivetime show. She is also a regular co-host on Radio Four’s Loose Ends and presents BBC2’s The Great Pottery Throwdown. When not spinning records and entertaining millions, Sara is a proud mother-of-three children with her partner Ben. Apart from her family and work, Sara’s other passions include horses, where she raced at Goodwood for charity, was QIPCO ambassador for the 2016 Champions Series, and even DJ’d at Ascot on Champions Day.
