Chicory Tip were formed in 1967 in Maidstone, Kent originally as a four-piece band with their music concentrating on vocal harmony covers. In 1970, they were signed to CBS records releasing four singles before they enjoyed a number one smash hit with Son of My Father, released in January 1972. Spending 13 weeks in the UK charts, it was a number one in every European country. It was written by Giorgio Moroder, who also wrote hits for Edison Lighthouse. The follow up recordings of What's My Name reached number 13 and Good Grief Christina reaching number 17.
The current line-up of Chicory Tip includes Rick Foster on lead guitar, who is a founding member (as well as being a one-time member of Edison Lighthouse), Peter Giles on bass, who joined the band shortly after its formation, and ex Edison Lighthouse drummer, Stephane Booroff. The band play hits from the 60s and 70s and have been thrilling and entertaining audiences with their live performances ever since.
